"Gold Standard" for Marie Claire
Life in New York for photographers and their stylists just got a whole lot more difficult with the closing of an institution, New York Central Art Supply. It was an old-school, messy, crowded store that had an exhaustive selection of art supplies and obscure papers. With the earlier disappearance of Pearl Paint, New York is now served by a couple of soulless art supply chains and much smaller mom and pop shops.
As a group, photography people are not easily shocked, but how the hell did this happen to a city of eight million people? I sourced this series from my personal paper supplies, Central Art’s dwindling shelves, and that infernal Internet. Next time will be much tougher. Bah! To see more accessories on gold, click here.
